Register Now for College Next Semester You can still enroll in winter-spring courses at a CUNY campus that will help you earn a professional certificate from the Center. With a college degree you will enjoy hiring preference among many of New York's largest after-school employers and gain the potential to boost your earnings.

Registration is still open for the Winter-Spring 2008 certificate courses at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, LaGuardia Community College in Queens, Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn and York College in Queens. All represent an excellent opportunity for after-school educators - at almost no cost to them - to expand their knowledge and skills while earning college credits.

These courses cover topics including, communication in a professional setting, special education, psychology and youth development. For more information on courses, please visit the Center's website.

Next Session of the Hunter Course offered this December Want to refresh and advance your knowledge of after-school while meeting some of the Department of Health's mandatory training requirements? Then the Center's two-day, Saturday continuing education course at Hunter College, "Introductory Course for After-School Staff", is the perfect choice.

The course provides after-school staff members with an overview of the after-school world, including insights into the relationship between community-based organizations and schools. It covers lesson planning, effective classroom management, creative ways to resolve conflicts and tools for identifying kids' learning styles.

Sessions of the two-day course will be repeated on weekends throughout the academic year. The next session will be held on December 1 and December 8. For more information on these programs or to start the registration process visit us online at www.afterschoolexcellence.org or contact Damali Dublin at (646) 943-8848 / ddublin@afterschoolexcellence.org.
